The calls a front desk answers all day

Are you open? Do you have a table at 7? Can I move my appointment? Where do I park? Is the price on your site still right? A small business loses customers when nobody picks up, and loses staff time when someone always has to. An AI front desk takes the repeated questions and the routine bookings, and sends the rest to a person.

What the agent does at your front desk

  • Answers calls and texts from your own information: hours, address, menu, prices, rules. Quick answers you write yourself are used first and instantly.
  • Plays a phone menu you build by clicking, and lets callers say what they need.
  • Books and confirms tables and appointments, writes them into your Google Calendar and reads back a confirmation code.
  • Reminds and follows up: a reminder before the booking, a kind message after a no-show, a thank-you with your review link after a visit.
  • Tells your team in Slack or Teams, opens a Jira ticket for a problem, and sends you a daily summary of what it handled.
  • Hands over to a person when a caller asks, when it is unsure, or when the topic is something it should not answer, such as an allergy question.

Questions

What is an AI front desk for a small business?

Software that does what the person at your front desk does all day: answer the same questions, take a booking, confirm it, remind the customer and pass a real person in when needed. Speakvora's version answers texts and phone calls using checked, ready-made voice lines for your industry, and it runs on your own computer.

Can it answer my business phone?

Yes, on a phone system you already have. Calls come in through your own Twilio account or through an existing office phone system (a SIP extension, tested with Asterisk). It plays your greeting and a phone menu (press 1 for hours, press 3 to book), lets a caller speak instead of pressing keys, and connects a person whenever the caller presses 0 or says person, human or manager. Zoom Phone and other hosted systems have not been tested.

Does it book appointments and tables?

It takes the booking details, reads back a confirmation code, adds the booking to your Google Calendar and tells your team in Slack or Teams. Reminders go out before the booking and a kind follow-up goes out after a no-show. You can see all of it in Test my agent before a real customer ever hears it.

How is this different from an answering service or a monthly AI receptionist?

You pay once per business location ($214 to $399, first 12 months of updates and support included), not per month or per minute, and Speakvora charges nothing per call or per text. Your phone provider bills your calls and texts, and an AI key is optional and billed by your AI provider. After the first year, renewing is an optional flat $99 a year; if you never renew, what you downloaded keeps working.

Will it say something wrong to my customer?

It starts in practice mode: it records what it would do and sends nothing until you press Go live. It follows the workflows and menus you set up, never states a price or phone number that is not in your information, says it does not know and gets a person when it is unsure, and hands emergencies and requests for a person to your staff. Quiet hours, STOP handling and per-hour limits are enforced in code.

What are the limits?

The voices are AI-generated, not human recordings. English bundles come first; other languages await native-speaker review. It is for information, booking and messages, not medical, legal, financial or emergency advice, and there is no HIPAA claim. Texting from a US business number on Twilio needs carrier registration, which can take days. We have no published customer case studies yet.

Where can I see it working?

The free Speakvora course on YouTube shows each step on a real dashboard. Chapter 0 is a full dashboard tour; later chapters build the agent and take a live phone call.
