Spoken order updates for a Shopify-style app

Short answer: Map each order status to one sentence from a pack, unzip the pack into your app, and the app speaks the status with no API call. This page shows the whole mapping.

The idea

The app is silent until a pack is installed. Then each status plays the matching file: packed, shipped, out for delivery, delivered, delayed, returned.

{
  "packed": "Your order is packed, and I will keep an eye on it.",
  "shipped": "Your order is shipped, and I will keep an eye on it.",
  "out_for_delivery": "Your order is out for delivery, and I will keep an eye on it.",
  "delivered": "Your delivery has arrived.",
  "delayed": "Your order is delayed, and I will keep an eye on it.",
  "returned": "I see your shipment was returned to sender."
}

A small check confirms every mapped sentence exists in the installed pack word for word, so the app never says the wrong thing. Shopify's webhooks are verified with their HMAC signature before any status changes.

Honest limits

  • The voices are synthetic. Where the law or good practice requires it, tell listeners they are hearing an automated voice.
  • Non-English audio is marked native review pending until a native speaker approves it.
  • Packs are generic, ready-made lines in the library's voices. They are not your brand voice or a script written for you; for a new sentence call the API.
  • The licence lets you play the audio inside your own apps, devices and services, commercially and offline. You may not resell or redistribute the files or use them to train speech models.

Questions
