Speakvora vs Google Cloud Text-to-Speech
Google Cloud Text-to-Speech is a broad, enterprise-grade service with several voice families. It also requires a Google Cloud project, billing and OAuth. This page weighs that setup against Speakvora's simpler API key.
Short answer. Choose Google when you already run on Google Cloud, need its voice families or language breadth, or must keep everything inside one cloud contract. Choose Speakvora when you want a few lines of HTTP, low per-character cost and ready-made prompts.
The price, read carefully
Google's pricing page lists Standard at $4, Neural2 at $16, Chirp 3: HD at $30 and Studio at $160 per million characters. Its Instant custom voice is $60 per million. Speakvora's catalog voices are $0.70 and a custom voice made from your own recording is $6, so the custom-voice list-price gap is about 90%.
That gap needs a caveat. Voice-cloning products differ in sample requirements, languages, consent checks and quality, and we have not compared audio quality. Speakvora's own-voice feature supports English, with French and German in beta; we measured other languages as not intelligible and do not offer them.
On setup, Google's synthesis endpoint needs OAuth with the cloud-platform scope and returns a JSON body with base64 audio. Speakvora returns JSON with a URL to the audio, so there is nothing to decode but an extra request to fetch the file.

- SSML input alongside plain text
Where Speakvora is stronger
- An API key instead of a cloud project and OAuth

- A checked phrase library, with industry packs (47 live across 23 industries today, more being built for every industry)
- Downloaded pack audio plays offline with no per-play cost
Three situations, three different answers
A startup on Google Cloud with credits to burn
Use Google until the credits run out; the integration cost is already paid. Re-evaluate on cost then.
A kiosk vendor outside any cloud ecosystem
A single HTTPS call with an API key is a lighter integration than OAuth, and stored audio removes runtime generation for fixed prompts.
A company that needs a branded custom voice in 12 languages
Speakvora cannot do this today. Google's custom voice product may fit better; confirm its language list on its page.
What we did not find at Google Cloud Text-to-Speech
- Curated industry phrase packs
- A ready-generated phrase catalog
- A caching statement on the pricing page reviewed
"Not found" means we did not see it in the official material reviewed. It is not a claim that the provider lacks it.
