Connect your own phone, Telegram, WhatsApp or office phone system
Text customers from your own Android phone, answer Telegram and WhatsApp messages, and answer calls on your existing office phone system, without a Twilio account. What works, what it costs and what it cannot do.
You do not need Twilio to start. The Speakvora agent connects to services you already have, and every connection has a Full Guide button in the dashboard with the complete steps. Calls and texts can use different connections.
What you can connect
| Connection | What it does | Cost | Setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your Android phone (texts) | Sends and receives texts through your own SIM and number using the free open-source SMS Gateway for Android app | Your normal phone plan | About 15 minutes |
| Telegram | Customers message your bot and the agent answers | Free | About 5 minutes, no public web address needed |
| WhatsApp (Meta) | Answers WhatsApp messages through Meta's own Cloud API | Replies within 24 hours are free; other messages use Meta's prices | About an hour, mostly Meta's pages |
| Your office phone system (calls) | The agent signs in to a SIP extension, answers the calls you send to it, plays your menu and transfers to your staff | Your existing phone service | Up to an hour |
| Twilio (calls and texts) | Texts and calls on a Twilio number, with outbound calls | Billed to you by Twilio | About 20 minutes, plus a few days for US text registration |
Texts from your own phone
Install SMS Gateway for Android on the phone, switch on its cloud server and paste three details into the agent. Customers text your normal number and the agent answers from the same phone. It is Android only, the phone must stay on with signal, and a personal SIM is meant for customer-service volume, not bulk marketing. Switch off RCS chats on that phone so texts arrive as ordinary SMS.
Telegram and WhatsApp
Telegram needs a bot token from @BotFather and works without a public address. WhatsApp uses a Meta developer app: you copy an access token, a phone number ID and an app secret, paste a callback address into Meta, and publish the app so real messages are delivered. Both answer text messages. Voice calls on Telegram bots are not possible and WhatsApp calling is not built yet.
Calls on your existing phone system
Create an ordinary SIP extension for the agent in 3CX, FreePBX or Asterisk, RingCentral, 8x8, Zoom Phone, Ooma, Vonage or Telnyx, then send the calls you choose to it (after hours, overflow or a queue). The agent plays your recorded menu, takes keypad choices and transfers to a person. We tested it against a real Asterisk phone system: sign-in with the extension password, an incoming call, the menu audio, a keypad press and a transfer. It does not place outbound calls over this connection and does not yet support providers that allow only encrypted SIP.
When you still need Twilio
- Answering calls when you have no phone system to connect.
- Outbound calls from the agent.
- Texting at business volume from a registered number.
Every step is recorded for support
The dashboard keeps a plain setup log on your computer. If something will not connect, press Download report or Email it to Speakvora support on the Connect page. The report lists what is connected and what each test said. It never contains keys, passwords, the words of messages or whole phone numbers.
