Telegram is the quickest way to give customers a place to message you. You make a bot with Telegram's official @BotFather, paste its token into the agent, and the agent answers messages sent to it.

Set it up

  1. In Telegram message @BotFather and send /newbot, then choose a name and a username ending in bot.
  2. Copy the token it gives you into Connect, Telegram in the agent and press Save and test.
  3. Open your bot's link, press Start and send a message to try it.

Good to know

  • It works with no public web address: the agent checks for new messages itself.
  • Customers must message the bot first; a bot cannot start a chat.
  • Text only. Telegram does not allow bots to take voice calls.
  • Telegram bot messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Do not ask customers to send passwords or card numbers; the agent will not take them.

Is a Telegram bot free?

Yes. Telegram does not charge for bots. The bundle that contains the agent is a one-time price and there is no per-message fee from Speakvora.

Can the bot take phone calls?

No. Telegram does not offer voice calls to bots. Use your phone system or Twilio for calls.

Are the messages encrypted?

They are encrypted in transit, but bot chats are not end-to-end encrypted, so keep sensitive details out of them.
