Use it in your app

Unzip, bundle the audio files, and look up a sentence in manifest.json to get its file. It plays offline with no per-play fee. For a sentence that is not in the pack, call POST /v1/speak with lang set to ja (docs).

The agent that comes with it

Every pack includes an open-source agent (MIT license, on GitHub) that runs on your own server and your own phone, Slack, calendar and email accounts. It only says the approved sentences, always honours STOP, starts in practice mode so nothing goes out until you switch it on, and needs the internet (and your own providers) for texts, calls and Slack. How the agent works.

Honest limits

  • The voices are synthetic. Where the law or good practice requires it, tell listeners they are hearing an automated voice.
  • Non-English audio is marked native review pending until a native speaker approves it.
  • Packs are generic, ready-made lines in the library's voices. They are not your brand voice or a script written for you; for a new sentence call the API.
  • The licence lets you play the audio inside your own apps, devices and services, commercially and offline. You may not resell or redistribute the files or use them to train speech models.

Questions

Can I hear the Japanese ride hailing and public transit pack before buying?

Yes. Each voice has a free sample of 25 sentences, linked above.

Does it work offline?

The recorded sentences do: they are audio files you ship with your app. The agent's texts, calls and Slack need internet and your own providers; while it is down they wait in a queue on your machine and are sent in order when it returns.

Is the audio reviewed by a native speaker?

Not yet for non-English packs: it is marked native-speaker review pending.
